KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 12): Kinergy Advancement Bhd (KL:KINERGY) has secured a RM47.5 million subcontract from Gamuda Bhd's (KL:GAMUDA) unit for electrical works at a hyperscale data centre in Bandar Spring Hill, Port Dickson.
The subcontract was awarded by Gamuda Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd, for the data centre for a multi-national technology company headquartered in the US. The company was not named in the filing on Monday (Oct 12).
Under the contract, Kinergy will design, supply, install, test and commission the electrical infrastructure, including substations, transformers, power distribution systems, cabling, lighting, backup power systems and EV charging facilities.
The works are scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2028.
Kinergy’s executive deputy chairman and group managing director Datuk Dr Lai Keng Onn said the award signals the group’s growing recognition in the data centre sector and its technical capabilities in high-specification infrastructure.
Lai cited Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) figures that showed RM95.8 billion worth of data centre and cloud-computing investments being approved in Malaysia in the first half of 2026.
“As development grows in scale and complexity, we see increasing demand for specialised engineering and power infrastructure, creating a strong opportunity for Kinergy to deepen its participation in the sector,” Lad added.
Kinergy’s share price was unchanged at 39.5 sen during Monday’s mid-day break, valuing it at RM852.31 million.
