KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 9): Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) will provide RM1 billion in financing to help local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) explore export markets, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The government will also allocate RM60 million to the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) to help build local companies’ capacity to enter and diversify overseas markets, Anwar said when tabling Budget 2027 in Parliament on Friday.
He said the government will also allocate RM142 million to strengthen the National Information Dissemination Centres (Nadi) platform, helping young entrepreneurs to use online platforms to grow their businesses.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, added that the Jom Malaysia initiative will receive RM10 million to bring rural products and high-value services to digital platforms and overseas markets.
The measures come as Malaysia’s total trade reached RM2.5 trillion in the first eight months of 2026, with exports rising 31.2% to RM1.36 trillion, according to Anwar’s Budget 2027 speech.
