KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 9): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the value of government procurement allocated to Bumiputera G1-G4 contractors will be increased to RM7.5 billion by 2027, compared to RM4 billion this year.
Anwar, while tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday, said direct procurement is allowed for maintenance, repair, and improvement work on government facilities up to RM200,000, and quotations are allowed up to RM3 million.
“The Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju) will provide financing of up to RM1 billion, and its capability has been enhanced to monitor Bumiputera projects more effectively across all departments, agencies, and companies,” he said.
Anwar said financing by Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd will be increased to RM500 million from RM350 million to empower the Bumiputera economy.
“The government will provide a stamp duty facility of only RM10 for loan and financing agreements under the CAKNA II Scheme, which will be introduced from Jan 1, 2027, to Dec 31, 2030.
“The same facility is also extended for the CAKNA I Scheme until Dec 31, 2030,” he said.
At the same time, the prime minister said government-linked companies (GLCs) and Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS) are targeting RM45 billion in procurement from Bumiputera companies.
“Starting in 2027, the procurement guidelines for GLCs, which have not been reviewed since 2006, will be renewed.
“The success of vendors is also measured through company growth, innovation, and new markets that have been successfully penetrated,” he added.
