KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 7): The Office of the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court (PKPMP) has been asked to provide an official explanation regarding the report and reprimand from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) concerning the management of the eJamin system.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said that the operation and governance of the system are entirely under the jurisdiction of the judiciary, specifically the PKPMP.
"I see what the PAC has brought as a reprimand that the Chief Registrar (PKPMP) needs to respond to, and we have informed the Chief Registrar...perhaps his office will make a statement," she said at a press conference at the Parliament building here on Wednesday.
Previously, the PAC reported that the eJamin system, a court bail payment service under the PKPMP, had been operating for five years since 2020 without an official contract with the federal government.
The system operated by Dapat Vista Sdn Bhd was found to be functioning without an appointment letter, letter of acceptance (SST), letter of intent (LOI), or any official contract agreement with the government.
According to the PAC, from the balance of the RM193.71 million security deposit as of Dec 31, 2024 in the account, Dapat Vista was found to have invested RM130.8 million of that amount in the company's name and earned interest of between RM4 million and RM5 million per year.
