KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 5): A total of 11 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy air pollutant index (API) readings as of 4pm on Monday.

According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal of the Department of Environment (DOE), Batu Pahat and Larkin in Johor recorded the highest API readings at 159 each, followed by Pasir Gudang (157) and Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (154).

Also recording unhealthy readings were Nilai, Negeri Sembilan and Kluang, Johor, at 152 each, IPD Serian, Sarawak (150), Putrajaya (147), Johan Setia, Selangor (144), Segamat, Johor (129), and Bukit Rambai, Melaka (125).

Meanwhile, 55 areas recorded moderate level API readings.

An API reading between zero and 50 is categorised as good, followed by 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy), and exceeding 300 (hazardous).
