KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 5): The federal government received RM39.55 billion in dividends from its investments in 2025, up by 1.4% from RM39.01 billion a year earlier, as higher payouts from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and Khazanah Nasional Bhd outweighed lower receipts from other entities.

The dividends came from 20 companies and two statutory bodies, compared with 21 companies and two statutory bodies in 2024. The increase was RM535.06 million compared to last year, according to the latest auditor general’s report released on Monday.

Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS) paid RM32 billion, unchanged from 2024. BNM paid RM5.25 billion, up from RM2.85 billion, an increase of RM2.4 billion or 84.2%. Khazanah's dividend doubled to RM2 billion from RM1 billion.

Bank Simpanan Nasional paid RM25 million, down from RM52 million.

Dividends from statutory bodies rose 81.8% to RM5.28 billion, while those from companies fell 5.1% to RM34.27 billion.

In all, nine companies and one statutory body paid RM7.43 billion, against RM3.98 billion in 2024, an increase of RM3.45 billion or 86.7%.

Twelve companies and one statutory body paid less compared to 2024, as three companies paid the same amount in both years.

Piramid Pertama Sdn Bhd, which paid RM2.73 billion in 2024, made no payment in 2025. Dividends from Prokhas Sdn Bhd fell to RM5.6 million from RM56.24 million.

Three companies, Perbadanan Nasional Bhd, Malaysia Debt Ventures Bhd and Malaysia Digital Economy Corp Sdn Bhd paid dividends in 2025 after paying none in 2024.
