KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 5): Malaysia’s central bank said on Monday the Financial Stability Review report will be published only once a year instead of semi-annually.
There will be no publication of the report that assesses the overall health of the Malaysian financial system and its potential risks for the first half of 2026, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) said in a statement. The next report is scheduled for release in March 2027, BNM noted.
However, BNM will continue efforts to provide timely and focused insights into developments affecting the financial system, the central bank stressed.
The last report, which also covered the insurance sector, flagged tough business conditions for the second half of 2025 from cost pressures eating into profits and global uncertainties that may disrupt exports and supply chains.
The implementation of domestic policy measures is expected to raise businesses’ operating costs and weigh on profit margins, with banks in Malaysia being vigilant, especially on borrowers in more vulnerable segments facing the cost pressures, the October 2025 report noted.
