KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 2): Zetrix AI Bhd (KL:ZETRIX) owes the government over RM200 million as the digital services firm failed to remit the money collected from its customers, the Straits Times reported on Friday.

The money was due to the Road Transport Department which Zetrix AI collected for the renewal of vehicle road tax, driving licences and traffic summonses from the very start of its three-year contract in May 2023, the Singapore newspaper reported, citing official documents it had seen.

“Right now, the Transport Ministry is mulling the next step as it wants to have a more reliable digital payment system but also wants to make sure the money owed is paid up,” an unnamed government official was quoted as saying.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Transport confirmed the amount outstanding to The Edge.

The company, which began as MyEG Services Bhd in 2000, was a pioneer in providing online services such as vehicle road tax and insurance renewals through a link-up with the Road Transport Department, better known as by its Malay acronym JPJ.

Zetrix AI’s latest annual report, meanwhile, books other payables totalling RM95.5 million that includes — trade payables, deposits received, and accruals — revenues earned or expenses incurred before any cash changes hands.

Loans and borrowings made up most of the current liabilities totalling RM577.4 million and non-current liabilities amounting to RM1.25 billion.

The company booked a net profit of RM269.3 million for the three months ended June 30, 2026 (2QFY2026), bringing earnings for the first half of the year to RM540.58 million, according to its latest financial statements.
