The Edge Billion Ringgit Club (BRC) Awards turns 17 this year. The trust, support and goodwill — accumulated since 2010 — have helped make our simple desire to recognise, honour and celebrate the biggest and the best of Corporate Malaysia into a tradition, perhaps more. The Edge Media Group chairman Tan Sri Tong Kooi Ong thinks we can safely call the Billion Ringgit Club an institution. I agree.
As an institution tracking billion-ringgit members, we knew the bar needed to be set high from the start — trust and excellence go hand in hand. That is why our awards methodology is transparent and independently audited, and our trophies are valued because they cannot be bought.
This year’s 183 BRC members’ combined market value of RM1.9 trillion makes up 91% of Malaysia’s total market capitalisation while accounting for only 17.3% of 1,060 companies listed on Bursa Malaysia at the membership cut-off date of March 31, 2026. Not only are The Edge BRC members significant taxpayers — paying an estimated RM45 billion in taxes in FY2025 — many have proven over the years they can do well by doing good. Our numbers show that all but one of the past 16 Company of the Year winners subsequently outperformed the Bursa Malaysia index — by an average of 69%.
This year’s Company of the Year, Sunway Construction Bhd, may have only listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia 11 years ago in July 2015, but its consistent strong performance speaks to the deep roots within the Sunway group.
Our special award winner, Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS), needs little introduction. Its role in nation-building goes well beyond the annual dividends that bolster the annual federal government budget to behind-the-scene efforts to ensure supply at the pumps since the US-Iran war broke out as well as contributions to the country’s resource wealth fund.
Thank you for your presence at the BRC gala dinner on Sept 23 at the St Regis Kuala Lumpur. We believe this is possibly the only time in the year that so many key figures and top executives of large companies across all sectors listed on Bursa Malaysia come together.
We are especially honoured that the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah, not only graced the gala dinner with the Raja Permaisuri Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, but also personally presented trophies to all winners. Thank you, Tuanku.
I also thank our distinguished partners, OCBC Bank Malaysia and Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia, for their steadfast support in honouring and celebrating Corporate Malaysia’s continued excellence and welcome ARTELIA back as a partner for a second year. The Edge BRC awards ceremony and gala dinner would not be Corporate Malaysia’s most anticipated and prestigious annual gathering that it has become, without their ardent support.
Once again, congratulations to all winners! We look forward to celebrating Corporate Malaysia’s crème de la crème again next year!
