KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 30): IOI Properties Group Bhd (KL:IOIPG) and Marriott International Inc have expanded their strategic relationship with the signing of a portfolio deal for four new hotels in Malaysia.

According to a press statement issued on Sept 30, the hotel deal comprises W Langkawi; The Ritz-Carlton, Putrajaya; Aloft by Marriott Sepang and Aloft by Marriott Johor Bahru Plentong, with a total of 888 rooms.

Scheduled to open in 2030 along Pantai Kok, the planned 173-key W Langkawi is set to mark the luxury brand's debut in Langkawi near attractions such as the Langkawi Sky Bridge.

Planned for a 2032 opening, the 215-key The Ritz-Carlton, Putrajaya will form an integral component of a 70-storey iconic mixed-use tower under Phase 3 of IOI Resort City.

Slated for a 2030 opening, the planned 250-key Aloft by Marriott Sepang will form part of a 40-acre commercial development in Kota Warisan.

Also expected to open in 2030, the 250-key Aloft by Marriott Johor Bahru Plentong will mark the brand's debut in Johor Bahru as part of the IOI @Plentong mixed-use development.

Marriott International Asia Pacific excluding China president Rajeev Menon said: "These projects reflect our shared confidence in the long-term growth of Malaysia's hospitality sector and our commitment to working with trusted owners to bring the right brands and experiences to destinations with strong growth potential.”

IOI Properties Group CEO Datuk Lee Yeow Seng said: "The signing of the four hotels cements our position as a significant hospitality owner as this will bring to a total of fifteen hotels owned by the group, which presently are and will be managed by Marriott International.” 

IOI Properties Group aims to expand its overall hospitality footprint across Malaysia, Singapore and China to 4,648 hotel rooms by 2032.
