
KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 27): The name John Heah might not instantly be on everyone’s lips when it comes to the topic of built spaces, but the designs dreamed up by the Penang-born, London-based principal and owner of architectural firm Heah & Co have been bewitching jet-set travellers and luxury enthusiasts for many a year now. In other news, Chinese oil painter Mi Qiaoming is carving a niche for herself by blending Western painting techniques with traditional Chinese imagery. Shaped by her years studying in Russia and her cultural upbringing, Mi’s idiosyncratic style and compositions have earned her numerous accolades. Her latest exhibition, Echoes of Time, in Kuala Lumpur explores her personal evolution and progress as an artist. She hopes the showcase will encourage cross-culture dialogue.
In conjunction with World Heart Day on Sept 29, Tan Sri Rashpal Singh Randhay of Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur discusses its foundation’s efforts to improve access to cardiovascular treatment, particularly for Malaysia’s B40 community. He highlights the rising prevalence of heart disease among younger people, challenges surrounding affordability and post-surgery care, and the importance of regular health checks. The foundation also hopes to use the data collected during reviews to better understand the changing patterns of heart disease in the country.
