KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 23): LB Aluminium Bhd's (KL:LBALUM) net profit surged 60% to  RM18.6 million for its first quarter ended July 31, 2026 (1QFY2027), compared with RM11.6 million a year ago.

The group, which has aluminium and property segments, saw revenue for the period grow 17.9% year-on-year to RM318.8 million from RM270.43 million.

The aluminium segment saw a revenue increase of 16.5% to RM230.77 million compared with the RM198.15 million a year prior, due to  higher sales volume and average selling price.

Property revenue for the quarter was up 21.8% to RM88.03 million from RM72.28 million a year ago. The growth was attributed to the Platinum South Valley project in Bandar Tasik Selatan, Kuala Lumpur.

No dividends were declared for the quarter under review.

On its prospects, the group noted that global aluminium price fluctuations have increased raw material costs, though a stronger ringgit against the US dollar has partially mitigated the impact.

The group remains wary of the downside risk from the prolonged Iran war, weaker global trade and “lower-than-expected” commodity production.

It said prices and exchange rates would be monitored closely, and selling prices would be adjusted as needed to protect margins.

On the property front, ongoing projects, namely PSV 1 Residences and PSV 2 Residences, have achieved cumulative sales of 94.2% and 74.4%, with construction progress at 98.3% and 79.3%, respectively.

The board expects the group to remain profitable in the coming quarter.

LB Aluminium shares ended five sen lower, or 1.03%, at 48 sen on Wednesday, valuing the group at RM208.73 million.
