KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 22): Bon Estates Sdn Bhd has opened a new two-way road connecting Jalan Kiara 3 and Jalan Duta Kiara in Mont'Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, providing an additional route towards Solaris Dutamas and the surrounding areas.
The approximately 40m-long road, which includes a pedestrian walkway, was undertaken by the developer as a corporate social responsibility initiative. Bon Estates CEO Chan Jin-Wy said the infrastructure project cost about RM3 million.
The road was first announced in 2023 following engagement with the Mont Kiara Residents Association (RA) and other stakeholders. Chan said the project was intended to extend the benefits of Bon Estates’ development beyond its boundaries and improve connectivity for the wider neighbourhood.
“Even though it’s just a road, it actually means a lot more to the neighbourhood and community,” he said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony today, attended by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh and Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud.
Chan added that the new connection provides a safer, more direct route for pedestrians and could also provide a faster route for emergency vehicles.
He added that the project was made possible through collaboration with stakeholders including the Mont Kiara RA and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
Meanwhile, Yeoh said the road opening was an example of cooperation between the government and the private sector, noting that the road would give residents additional options to access Solaris Dutamas and the surrounding areas.
She said Bon Estates had engaged the local residents' association as part of the development process, adding that developers should consider how their projects could contribute to the surrounding community.
“A developer does not operate separately from the neighbourhood in which it builds. Every new development brings people and activity into an area. Developers therefore have an important role to play in looking beyond their own project boundaries,” she said.
Meanwhile, the road opening also marked another milestone for Bon Estates, with Chan announcing that its Bon Kiara condominium development is now 100% sold and is scheduled for handover to homeowners in October.
