KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 22): IGB REIT Management Sdn Bhd announced the passing of its former chief executive officer Elizabeth Tan Hui Ning on Monday, expressing profound sadness over the loss of a leader whose contributions left a lasting impact on IGB REIT and IGB Commercial REIT.
In a notice to tenants, business partners and colleagues, the company said Hui Ning "will be deeply remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her".
The statement extended heartfelt thoughts and deepest sympathies to Hui Ning's father, Datuk Seri Robert Tan Chung Meng — executive chairman of IGB REIT Management and a major unitholder of both IGB REIT and IGB Commercial REIT — as well as her sister and chief brand officer Gabrielle Tan Hui Chween, and also their family.
Hui Ning, 42, a seasoned professional in the property sector, graduated with First Class Honours in Business Administration (BSc) from Cardiff University, Wales, in June 2004, and joined Mid Valley City Gardens Sdn Bhd in August 2004 shortly after graduation.
Her career progressed rapidly, leading to her appointment as executive director in January 2011.
Prior to her CEO role, she served as joint chief operating officer and head of operations/leasing at The Gardens Mall, and was also chief executive officer responsible for the mall's overall operations .
Hui Ning was appointed interim CEO of IGB REIT Management effective Jan 1, 2024, following the retirement of Antony Patrick Barragry.
She stepped down from the role in March 2025 due to medical reasons.
Hui Ning also served as an alternate director of IGB Bhd, a position she resigned from in January 2026, also citing health issues.
"On behalf of the board of directors, management and staff of IGB REIT Management Sdn Bhd, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones during this very difficult time," said Chai Lai Sim, chief executive officer of IGB REIT Management.
"During this time of mourning, we respectfully ask that the family be given the privacy and space they need."
Details of the wake and funeral arrangements will be shared in a subsequent notice once finalised by the family.
