KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 17): Binastra Corp Bhd (KL:BNASTRA) saw its net profit surge nearly 80% in the second quarter ended July 31, 2026 (2QFY2027), driven by stronger construction activity, contributions from newly acquired thermal energy firm LF Lansen Sdn Bhd and its expansion into solar installation.

Net profit for the three months stood at RM50.6 million or 4.63 sen per share, compared with RM28.4 million or 2.61 sen per share a year earlier, its bourse filing showed on Thursday.

Revenue rose 66% to RM658.4 million from RM396.8 million a year ago, mainly due to a stronger contribution from the construction segment.

Revenue from conventional construction and data centre projects rose RM164.2 million to RM560.8 million.

The group also benefited from its 2025 acquisition of 51% in LF Lansen and expansion into solar installation services, which contributed RM97.4 million in revenue during the quarter.

Binastra declared a first interim dividend of four sen per share, amounting to RM43.8 million, payable on Oct 16. The payout ratio is 51% of its 1HFY2027 profit after tax and minority interest (PATAMI), which above its target of 30%.

For the six months ended July 31, net profit rose more than 60% to RM85.9 million from RM53.6 million a year earlier, while revenue nearly doubled to RM1.26 billion from RM653.7 million.

Looking ahead, Binastra said it is focused on strengthening project execution, integrating LF Lansen to enhance its engineering capabilities, improving working capital management and expanding its presence in the data centre segment.

“We are particularly encouraged by the progress of our data centre construction activities,” managing director Jackson Tan Kak Seng said, adding that the group had secured seven data centre projects worth a combined RM2.4 billion.

Binastra has secured RM1.3 billion in contracts so far in FY2027, lifting its outstanding order book to about RM6.7 billion.

Tan said the order book provides the group with earnings visibility over the next four financial years, while its growing exposure to data centres, renewable energy and specialised construction projects is helping to diversify its revenue base.

Binastra shares closed unchanged at RM2.49 on Thursday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM2.73 billion.

Year to date, the counter has gained more than 14%.
