KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 14): Energy and metals producer METLEN Energy & Metals has signed a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS) to supply LNG to Greece.
According to a statement issued by PETRONAS on Monday, under the deal, its subsidiary PETCO Trading (UK) Ltd will supply six LNG cargoes a year from its Atlantic portfolio, equivalent to about 0.6 billion cubic metres annually, for five years starting from 2027.
The agreement will help METLEN diversify its LNG supplies, giving the company greater flexibility and reliability while supporting energy security in Greece and Southeast Europe. It also strengthens Greece’s role as a regional energy hub.
For PETRONAS, the deal expands its LNG presence in Europe and the Mediterranean and strengthens its relationship with METLEN.
METLEN said the agreement will improve the flexibility and reliability of its LNG supply, while PETRONAS said it will continue to provide reliable and flexible LNG solutions through its global portfolio and trading capabilities.
Both companies said the partnership could lead to further collaboration and help strengthen LNG supply diversification and energy resilience in the region.
METLEN operates across five continents and in more than 40 countries.
