KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 11): Duopharma Biotech Bhd (KL:DPHARMA) said it detected an unauthorised system access attempt into its information technology (IT) infrastructure recently, with preliminary investigations indicating that a set of data files had been exfiltrated.
The exfiltration allegedly included personal data, the pharmaceutical company said in a bourse filing on Friday.
The company stressed, however, that the core corporate network and internal operational systems are intact and remain fully secure and functional.
"Preliminary investigations have confirmed that there has been no disruption to our core business operations, and all corporate activities continue to function normally," it said.
Duopharma said it will work with internal and external cybersecurity specialists to conduct a digital forensic investigation to determine the exact scope of the affected files while strengthening its IT security measures.
The company said it believes there are no financial implications arising from the incident, though it will continue to assess the impact as investigations progress.
Duopharma added that it will notify the Personal Data Protection Commissioner within the prescribed timeframe regarding the alleged data exfiltration.
Duopharma shares closed up one sen or 0.83% at RM1.22 on Friday, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM1.173 billion.
