PUTRAJAYA (Sept 7): A total of 41 flights to Jakarta were cancelled at airports nationwide on Monday following the temporary closure of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport due to volcanic ash from the Anak Krakatau eruption, according to Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).

It said the cancellations involved flights scheduled between 6.45am and 11.55pm on Monday.

“The highest number of cancellations was recorded at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), with 30 flights, comprising 20 at Terminal 1 and 10 at Terminal 2,” it said.

The airport operator said that the Penang International Airport recorded seven cancellations, followed by Subang Airport with two, while Kuching International Airport and Kota Kinabalu International Airport recorded one cancellation each.

No cancellations were recorded at the Kota Bharu Airport.

The cancellations followed the temporary closure of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport after volcanic ash from the Anak Krakatau eruption affected flight operations.
