KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 27): Engineering and infrastructure specialist Jati Tinggi Group Bhd (KL:JTGROUP) has won a RM69.49 million contract from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (KL:TENAGA) to build power transmission infrastructure in Tumpat, Kelantan.

The contract was awarded to an unincorporated joint venture between the group's wholly-owned subsidiary Jati Tinggi Holding Sdn Bhd and Idiqa Holding Sdn Bhd, according to a bourse filing on Thursday.

The contract involves the establishment of a new 132/33 kilovolt (kV) gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation in Tumpat and a 132kV overhead transmission line connecting the substation to a designated point.

Under the contract, the scope includes the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the GIS, together with primary equipment, secondary systems, civil and building works.

The contract has a 730-day completion period from a commencement date that will be determined at a later date.

Under the unincorporated joint venture, Jati Tinggi Holding has a 70% share of the rights, benefits, obligations and responsibilities for the works, while Idiqa Holding has 30%, or such other proportion as may be mutually agreed. Both parties will be jointly and severally liable for the contract.

The joint venture is required to provide performance security within 56 days from Aug 26, the effective date of the contract, and obtain the required insurance coverage before work begins.

Shares of Jati Tinggi closed one sen or 1% higher at 97 sen on Thursday, valuing the group at RM429.6 million.
