KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 26): Media Prima Bhd (KL:MEDIA) continued to be dragged by a decline in advertising income in the financial year ended June 30, 2026 (FY2026), with net profit down 25.8% to RM15.59 million from RM21.02 million.

Revenue dropped 9% to RM780.19 million from RM857.01 million, with advertising revenue falling 11%, according to the group's exchange filing on Wednesday.

Media Prima said its non-advertising revenue remained stable during the year, adding that cost management measures helped cushion the impact of weaker sales.

The group said it will begin implementing a new three-year strategic roadmap for FY2027, with priorities including improving operational efficiency, strengthening core revenue streams and developing new businesses.

“These strategic thrusts are designed to enhance business resilience, maintain market competitiveness, and deliver sustainable long-term value to shareholders,” said Media Prima.

The board declared a first and final dividend of one sen per share, down from 1.5 sen in FY2026. The dividend is payable on Oct 7 to shareholders on the register as at Sept 23.

For the fourth quarter, Media Prima's net profit dropped 80.8% year-on-year to RM2.74 million from RM14.26 million. Quarterly revenue fell 17% to RM184.64 million from RM222.47 million.

The group’s broadcasting business recorded the largest decline among its segments during the quarter, with revenue falling 28% mainly due to weaker television advertising revenue. Omnia, which includes its advertising business, saw revenue decline 17%, also due to lower television advertising income.

For FY2027, Media Prima expects operating conditions to remain challenging amid macroeconomic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions and changes in the media industry that could weigh on consumer behaviour and advertising spending.

In a separate filing, Media Prima said group chief financial officer Rosli Sabarudin @ Sabapathy has resigned to pursue other career opportunities. His resignation takes effect on Aug 31.

Media Prima shares closed flat at 29.5 sen on Wednesday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM327.2 million. Year to date, the counter has dropped by 13.2%.
