KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 20): Sime Darby Property Bhd (KL:SIMEPROP) has partnered with Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) to launch the Concept Home 2035 (CH2035) Competition, which will focus on designing future residential homes for a proposed 171.93-acre site at Elmina Hills, Elmina West within the City of Elmina township in Selangor.

The architectural design contest aims to explore buildable residential products and housing typologies beyond traditional terrace houses, according to a press statement on Wednesday.

The proposals will be evaluated based on five core design pillars: Climate-responsive planning; cost-effective and marketable; pragmatic and scalable; flexible planning; and biophilic and sustainability.

The competition, which follows the inaugural Concept Home 2030 Competition held in 2021, is open to PAM-registered architects and participating consortium teams. It involves a two-stage process comprising initial submissions and shortlisting, followed by refined proposals and a final jury evaluation.

Registration for Concept Home 2035 opened on Aug 19, and the competition will run for three months. The winning entries are scheduled to be announced in early December 2026.

The top entry will walk away with a prize of RM150,000, while the second- and third-place winners will receive RM90,000 and RM70,000, respectively. A People’s Choice Award carrying a prize of RM20,000 will also be awarded.

Sime Darby Property and PAM said the initiative aims to translate drawing-board concepts into practical, buildable applications, balancing liveability, design quality, cost, and sustainability for future townships.
