(Aug 19): Standard Chartered plc has reorganised its leveraged acquisition finance team as part of a push to sharpen focus on funding sponsor-led deals.
The bank’s leveraged acquisition finance group is now headed by David Law, who has been appointed as the global head of sponsor financing and private credit, a spokesperson for the firm said in response to a query from Bloomberg News.
London-based Law was previously the head of leveraged and acquisition finance and private credit for Europe and Americas, according to the spokesperson. Jujhar Singh, who was in charge of the leveraged and acquisition finance team, is still with the bank, the spokesperson said.
Financing responsibility for corporate clients under the leveraged acquisition finance business is now under Surya Bagchi, the global head of financing solutions, according to the spokesperson. “The changes are intended to strengthen our financing platform, enhance connectivity across teams and better support clients’ evolving financing needs.”
Standard Chartered’s move is taking place at a time when deal-making is increasing and firms are looking to deploy more capital. Investors have been particularly drawn to sectors like digital infrastructure and healthcare, while private equity firms are also in hot pursuit of acquisitions.
