KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 17): Manufacturing solutions provider YBS International Bhd (KL:YBS) has entered into a deal to acquire an industrial property in Penang for RM23.5 million cash as part of its plan to expand production capacity to meet rising customer demand.
The group, via its subsidiary Oriental Fastech Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (OFM), entered into a sale and purchase agreement on Aug 17 with Premium Starhill Sdn Bhd for the leasehold property that has about six years remaining on its lease, expiring on Nov 21, 2032.
Located in the Perai Industrial Area, the 87,059 sq ft plot has a semi‑detached factory erected on it with a built‑up floor area of 59,828 sq ft. The property is currently occupied by OFM at a monthly rental rate of RM390,600. The rental agreement is expiring on Oct 31 this year.
The proposed acquisition, expected to be completed by the end of this year, will be funded through a combination of internal funds and bank borrowings.
YBS International specialises in precision engineering, electronic manufacturing services (EMS) and industrial packaging solutions.
The group reported a sharp turnaround in its fourth quarter ended March 31, 2026, with a net profit of RM19.46 million, compared with a net loss of RM2.66 million a year earlier, as revenue jumped 24.79% to RM37.7 million from RM30.23 million. The return to profit was primarily due to a substantial asset revaluation gain and higher demand in its EMS segment.
Shares of YBS International closed half a sen lower at 37.5 sen on Monday, valuing the company at RM111.6 million.
