(Aug 17): Singapore home sales picked up in July after hitting a more than two-year low in the previous month, as fresh projects attracted buyers and the school holiday period came to an end.

Developers sold 731 new private units last month, according to figures released on Monday by the Urban Redevelopment Authority. That compares with 156 units sold in June and 940 units a year earlier.

New home sales in the city-state hinge in part on how many projects developers choose to bring to market, and July brought a resumption after a near standstill in June. Singapore’s housing boom has shown signs of moderating. Prices of private homes climbed 0.5% in the second quarter, slowing from 0.9% in the previous three months.
