KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 14): PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk, the Indonesian banking unit of CIMB Group Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB), posted a consolidated profit before tax of 4.3 trillion rupiah (RM990 million) for the first half ended June 30, 2026 (1HFY2026), or an earnings per share of 136.67 rupiah.
Revenue grew 6.8% year-on-year (y-o-y), while pre-provision operating profit rose 6.5% y-o-y, as higher contribution from non-interest income cushioned lower net interest income and supported overall top-line expansion, the bank said in a statement on Friday.
Total loans grew 6.6% y-o-y to 247.2 trillion rupiah, driven by growths in corporate banking (up 13.8%), commercial banking (up 4.6%), SME (up 2.9%) and consumer banking (up 0.1%).
Current account and savings account (Casa) balances rose 6.9% to 193.1 trillion rupiah, bringing the bank's Casa ratio to 71.7%. Total deposits rose 2.8% to 269.3 trillion rupiah.
CIMB Niaga president director and chief executive officer Lani Darmawan said asset quality remained sound, with gross non-performing loan improving to 1.83%.
"During the period, we also prudently strengthened our provision for multifinance companies in line with applicable regulatory requirements. Overall, these results reflect the resilience of our underlying business and our continued focus on building a stronger and more sustainable franchise for the long term,” Lani said.
The lender maintained a solid capital and liquidity buffer, with capital adequacy ratio of 23.5%, and a loan-to-deposit ratio of 90.4%.
Total consolidated assets rose 6.7% to 382 trillion rupiah as of June 30, 2026, reaffirming CIMB Niaga's position as Indonesia’s second-largest privately owned bank.
Looking ahead, Lani said the bank remains focused on executing its Forward30 strategy with discipline and across its key growth areas.
"We will continue to pursue quality loan growth, strengthen Casa, diversify revenue streams, and deepen customer relationships through wealth management, transaction banking and our digital ecosystem. Guided by our purpose of Advancing Customers & Society, we aim to continue growing responsibly while creating meaningful and sustainable value for our customers, shareholders and the communities we serve,” she added.
CIMB's shares closed unchanged at RM7.95 on Friday, valuing the lender at RM85.93 billion.
