GEORGE TOWN (Aug 14): PKR's core leadership is united and solid, said strategy director Sim Tze Tzin, brushing aside suggestions of internal strife.
The Bayan Baru member of Parliament said he does not see any turmoil within the party, despite the exit of several MPs.
"The leadership is very solid, and the core leadership team remains with the party and is cooperating well.
"Indeed, a few MPs have left, including the Subang MP recently, but that was expected. The party has already moved forward," he told a press conference Friday.
He was responding to questions about whether there is internal conflict in PKR following deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar's recent remarks on the need to avoid having "two captains" in the party.
Elaborating further, Sim, who is also deputy investment, trade and industry minister, said PKR has only one captain, party president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, he said the party will evaluate its performance and hear from delegates at its National Convention this weekend.
He said PKR must take into account several weaknesses highlighted by its performance in the recent Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.
"Of course, delegates will raise various issues. This is the platform for leadership to hear their grievances and understand existing weaknesses.
"We still have time to work hard and address all shortcomings before the next general election," he said.
