
KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 11): West River Bhd (KL:WESTRVR)’s wholly-owned subsidiary, West River Engineering Sdn Bhd, has secured a RM22.56 million electrical works subcontract to carry out electrical works at a data centre in Johor.
The contractor's identity was not disclosed.
The subcontract will have the electrical engineering and intelligent building solutions company perform the design, supply, construction, handover and maintenance for a consumer landing station as part of a data centre development at the SILC Industrial Area in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.
This landing station is part of a broader phased development, which is made up of the two-storey landing station, a three-storey data centre, a three-storey mechanical and electrical building, and a four-storey office building.
Managing director of West River, Lim Yong Lai, said in a statement on Tuesday that this contract shows confidence in West River’s capabilities and experience, and that they are committed to delivering the project work safely and on time.
West River plans on leveraging this project to deepen its technical track record in data centre electrical systems, opening doors to pursue more opportunities within the digital infrastructure, commercial, industrial and related engineering sectors.
Work on the landing station commenced on June 20 and is scheduled for completion by Oct 30 this year. The works are also subject to an 18-month defects liability period commencing from the date of the taking-over certificate.
As per the contract, if West River fails to finish the project on time, or if any extensions are given, West River is liable for liquidated damages at the rate of RM22,000 per calendar day for the period of delay.
West River’s share price rose by 3.1% on Tuesday, priced at 33 sen per share, giving it a market capitalisation of RM118 million.
