KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 11): OMRON Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the manufacturing arm of Aratas Corp (OMRON Group), is investing ¥10 billion (RM259 million) to construct a new advanced manufacturing facility at COMPASS @ Kota Seri Langat (COMPASS) in Selangor, according to a press statement on Tuesday.
The company, which is scheduled to change its name to Aratas Components Malaysia Sdn Bhd, has executed a sale and purchase agreement to acquire a 17-acre site within the managed industrial park.
Construction of the facility is scheduled to begin in October 2026 following necessary approvals, with completion and operational launch targeted for late 2027.
The new factory will expand production capacity to 1.5 times its current level, accounting for more than 10% of Aratas’ total global production capacity.
The facility will primarily manufacture relays, sockets, and other products to serve the growing India and Asia-Pacific markets.

The COMPASS industrial park is a joint venture development between Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), Area Group, and KWEST Group and covers 220 freehold acres. The park offers industrial plots ranging from seven to 36 acres, featuring a landscaped environment, 24-hour security, sports facilities, and a purpose-built worker accommodation complemented by the Compass SME Precinct featuring fully built SME factories with sizes ranging from 3,600 to 50,000 sq ft.
COMPASS is located within the 2,800-acre Kota Sri Langat township in Banting and is conceptualised and developed by The AREA Group through its subsidiary AREA Management Sdn Bhd.
The development comprises the COMPASS Industrial & Logistics Hub and the adjacent COMPASS SME Precinct, which was completed earlier this year.
