<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>In a brief statement issued late Friday evening the private medical facility said that the ninth prime minister went through a "leadless pacemaker implantation procedure for an abnormal heart rhythm" earlier in the afternoon.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>"Following the procedure, he has been advised to rest. Visitation will therefore be limited to close family members to support his recovery and ensure his privacy," read the statement.</p></div><div class=inPageAd id=div-gpt-ad-inpage></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>The hospital also requested for members of the press and public to respect the Bera parliamentarian and his family's privacy at this time.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>IJN also said that any further updates will be issued through authorised channels.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>Earlier on Friday, Ismail was expected to be in court to face Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) charges against him.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, however, granted a postponement of the proceedings given his health condition.</p></div>
