A joint venture between Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (KL:MRCB) and Theta Edge Bhd (KL:THETA) has secured the RM3.028 billion system turnkey contract for the Pulau Pinang Mutiara Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) project from Malaysia Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd. MRCB owns 90% in the JV, while Theta Edge has the remaining 10%. Bolts and nuts manufacturer Tong Herr Resources Bhd (KL:TONGHER) has received a proposal from its major shareholders Allrich Corp and Richard Holdings Ltd — controlled by members of the Taiwanese Tsai family — to privatise the company through a selective capital reduction and repayment exercise (SCR) at RM2.55 per share. The offerors and other members of the extended Tsai family together own a 74.50% interest in Tong Herr. Shares of Tong Herr have gained nearly 32% this year. Batu Kawan Bhd (KL:BKAWAN) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Whitmore Holdings Sdn Bhd’s voluntary takeover offer of MKH Bhd (KL:MKH) has become unconditional after the former’s shareholders approved the proposed acquisition at the group's extraordinary general meeting on Aug 5. Pentamaster Corp Bhd (KL:PENTAMASTER) saw its second-quarter (2Q2026) net profit jump by 63.9%, driven by its factory automation solutions segment, supported by its existing order book and sustained demand from its AI Compute and medical segments. Quarterly revenue increased 24.83% year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM180.85 million in 2Q2026 from RM144.88 million. Oriental Kopi Holdings Bhd (KL:KOPI) is planning to expand into Indonesia and Mauritius. It plans to enter Indonesia through a joint venture with PT Era Boga Nusantara, which will hold a 60% stake while its subsidiary Oriental Coffee International Sdn Bhd will invest RM1.96 million for the remaining 40%. Sentral REIT’s (KL:SENTRAL) net property income (NPI) for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 (2QFY2026) slipped 3.2% year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM35.78 million, as operating expenses rose faster than rentals. Lotte Chemical Titan Holding Bhd (KL:LCTITAN) saw its net losses double in its 2QFY2026 to RM401.67 million from RM189.33 million. CBH Engineering Holding Bhd (KL:CBHB) secured a RM26.2 million contract to upgrade a substation in Selangor. Carlo Rino Group Bhd (KL:CARLORINO) has shelved its plan to transfer to Bursa Malaysia's Main Market, citing the prevailing operating environment and its strategic priorities. “The company believes it is appropriate to focus on the continued execution of its strategic initiatives and long-term growth plans, and to revisit the proposed transfer at an appropriate time,” it added. Perak Transit Bhd (KL:PTRANS) on Thursday unveiled a share buy-back scheme, saying that investors undervalue the bus-and-terminal operator. The initiative is expected to complement the dividend policy, Perak Transit said in a statement. Handal Energy Bhd (KL:HANDAL) has delayed the release of its annual report for the financial period ended Dec 31, 2025 yet again, pushing back its previously stated Aug 7 target. The oil and gas services provider now expects to issue the report by end of October.The latest postponement follows five previous delays, which has also resulted in the postponement of its annual general meeting.
