PUTRAJAYA (Aug 5): A former chief financial officer of a company owned by a statutory body gave her statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Wednesday in relation to its investigation into the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji.
She is suspected of abusing her power in the process of purchasing shares in two plantation companies worth RM370 million.
The 60-year-old woman arrived at the MACC headquarters here in a black vehicle at 11.40am.
It is understood that the woman is the third individual called by the MACC to assist in the investigation.
On Tuesday (Aug 4), the MACC arrested a former chief executive officer of the company over the same case.
According to MACC sources, the 68-year-old suspect was arrested while present to give a statement at the MACC headquarters at around 6.30pm.
However, the individual was released that same night on health grounds and was ordered to return on Wednesday to continue giving his statement.
The arrest followed an investigation by a special team established to review and examine the findings of the Tabung Haji RCI report, which was made public via the official portal of the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim) on July 29.
Previously, the media reported the arrest of a director of a design company for allegedly giving a RM300,000 bribe to a former COO of a statutory body between 2014 and 2018 for help to secure renovation projects at the statutory body.
The male suspect, in his 50s, was remanded for two days until Wednesday.
Initial MACC investigations found that the suspect is believed to have paid bribes in the form of renovations to four units of houses owned by the former COO.
