The company is working with Bank of America Corp and China International Capital Corp (CICC) on a potential share sale, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private.
Deliberations are ongoing and no final decision has been made.
Representatives for Vast, Bank of America and CICC declined to comment.
Vast, whose backers include Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, Baidu Inc and Ince Capital, makes Tripo Studio, which helps developers and creative professionals generate 3D models from text and image prompts. It has a partnership with Chinese gaming company NetEase Inc in the role-playing game Where Winds Meet, in which players can upload photos to instantly generate interactive 3D avatars.
Vast was founded in 2023 by Simon Song, a founding member of large-language-model developer MiniMax Group Inc. It recently raised nearly US$200 million to become the latest Chinese AI outfit to achieve a valuation of US$1 billion.
