KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 4): DAP will seek its delegates' decision at the party's National Congress on Aug 16 on whether it should remain part of the unity government until the end of the current parliamentary term.
Speaking to reporters after the party's central executive committee (CEC) meeting on Monday night, DAP secretary general Anthony Loke Siew Fook confirmed that delegates would vote on a motion regarding the party's continued participation in the government.
"We are leaving it to the delegates. That decision will be made on Aug 16," he said.
Loke said the motion concerns DAP's position in the government, including whether its representatives should continue serving in the administration.
DAP is currently the largest party in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's unity government, with 40 Members of Parliament.
The party currently holds five ministerial positions and seven deputy minister posts, including Loke himself as transport minister.

Loke said the matter had been discussed by the CEC, but the party leadership decided against taking a formal position in order to respect the delegates' decision-making process.
He said delegates would have full freedom to decide on the matter, with the vote to be conducted through a secret ballot.
Loke also stressed that the motion only concerns DAP's position in the government and does not involve its membership in Pakatan Harapan (PH).
"As far as our position within PH is concerned, that issue does not arise at this point," he said when asked whether the motion would involve DAP's position within the coalition.
