SEREMBAN (Aug 1): Caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said he has no regrets over his decision to gamble on contesting the Linggi (N.32) state seat, despite the move ending his four-term streak as a state assemblyman.
Aminuddin had moved away from his long-time stronghold in Sikamat (N.13) in a bid to gain ground in BN-held victory. However, the gamble ended in defeat to Linggi's incumbent, Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli.
“I do not regret it all,” Aminuddin told reporters following the loss. “I don’t feel disappointed. I’ve said many times that I would accept the results; I am content with what has happened.”

PKR also failed to hold on to Sikamat, where Aminuddin’s political secretary Nor Azman Mohamad was defeated by Datuk Razali Abu Samah of Perikatan Nasional (Wawasan).
Aminuddin said staying in Sikamat actually offered no guarantee of a win for him either. "If I had contested anywhere, I perhaps would have lost. What's important to me is not winning or losing. As I said earlier, I have no regrets," he said.
Aminuddin, who remains the Member of Parliament for Port Dickson and PKR deputy president, said he will take time to decide on his next moves after stepping down from the menteri besar post.
"Perhaps now I will have a little more time with my children and grandchildren, and for me to think about what I should do for the party in the future,” Aminuddin said. “For now, I'll take a short rest. I need to think first, and then we'll see."
