KUALA LUMPUR (July 23): Hartanah Kenyalang Bhd (KL:HKB) is seeking to expand into utilities construction services as the Sarawak-based contractor eyes more jobs in Peninsular Malaysia.
Sarawak’s renewable energy ambition will allow the company to bid for jobs such as to build electric substations while water infrastructure upgrades in the state will also open the door for Hartanah Kenyalang to go into pipeline and treatment plant projects, said managing director Seah Boon Tiat.
Solarvest Holdings Bhd (KL:SLVEST), which bought a substantial stake in May, will also create more opportunities for Hartanah Kenyalang to expand in the renewable energy sector, he noted.
Seah was speaking to reporters at a briefing on Thursday ahead of its second-quarter results announcement.
Listed on the ACE Market in June 2025, Hartanah Kenyalang mainly provides building construction services focusing on institutional buildings such as schools and other non-residential buildings, as well as infrastructure construction services, especially bridges and roads.
Hartanah Kenyalang is now bidding for jobs worth over RM4 billion comprising 12 projects in Sarawak, while the contractor is tendering for works worth about RM280 million in Peninsular Malaysia, Seah said.
The company, for now, is looking to start small and build up its record in the peninsula, he added.
Hartanah Kenyalang now has outstanding orders on hand worth RM526 million as at April 30. The latest contract secured was on Monday for the construction of multi-storey buildings and ancillary facilities in Sarawak for RM41 million.
