KUALA LUMPUR (July 23): Betamek Bhd (KL:BETA) started its new financial year on a strong note, driven by higher automotive production volumes, growing export sales and a broader customer base.

In a Bursa filing on Thursday, the automotive electronics manufacturer said net profit rose 53.2% to RM8.25 million for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026 (1QFY2027), from RM5.39 million in the corresponding quarter a year earlier. Quarterly revenue increased 40.3% to RM79.82 million from RM56.88 million.

In a separate filing, Betamek said higher production volumes across its automotive product segments drove the stronger performance. Export sales also continued to expand, while efforts to diversify its customer base gained further traction.

Vehicle audio and video products remained the group’s largest revenue contributor at RM45.34 million during the quarter, followed by vehicle accessories at RM24.35 million. Connectivity modules contributed RM6.77 million, reflecting the group’s increasing participation in vehicles with higher electronic content.

Compared with the preceding quarter, revenue rose 20.9% from RM66.03 million, while net profit slipped 2.1% from RM8.43 million to RM8.25 million. The higher revenue was driven by stronger automotive production volumes, although margins were affected by the product mix and a weaker ringgit against currencies used to purchase raw materials.

Revenue from non-major customers accounted for about 21% of total revenue during the quarter, up from approximately 18% a year earlier, while export sales made up about 18% of revenue, driven mainly by demand from Hong Kong and other regional markets.

The board declared a first interim dividend of 1.25 sen per share, payable on Aug 17. It also proposed a final dividend of 1.25 sen per share for FY2026, subject to shareholders' approval at the upcoming annual general meeting.

Executive director Muhammad Fauzi Abd Ghani said the group's diversification efforts and higher production volumes had provided a solid foundation for sustainable long-term growth.

Looking ahead, Betamek said it expects resilient domestic demand and a stable automotive sector to continue supporting its business despite global trade uncertainties and cost pressures.

It added that it will continue investing in smart manufacturing, technology development and new growth initiatives, including commercialising its SafeSync360 infotainment project and collaborations in electric vehicle communication technologies.
