KUALA LUMPUR (July 21): Malaysia's blockchain industry comes into focus as prominent industry figures will be attending the upcoming Malaysia Blockchain Week (MYBW) 2026.

The event will be held on July 29 and 30 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, enterprises, developers, investors, creators and curious newcomers.

According to its official website, renowned speakers include Justin Sun, founder of the TRON blockchain, who was also reported to be an early financial backer of World Liberty Financial, Donald Trump's family crypto venture; and Steven McWhirter, global policy lead at Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange.

Successful Malaysian entrepreneurs who have made their mark in the blockchain industry, such as Bobby Ong, co-founder and chief executive officer of CoinGecko, and Matthew Tan, CEO of Etherscan, are also on the list.

CoinGecko is the world's largest independent cryptocurrency data aggregator, according to its official website, while Etherscan is a leading block explorer for the Ethereum blockchain.

Also among the 150 speakers are Alex Svanevik, co-founder and CEO of agentic trading and blockchain analytics platform Nansen; Nischint Sanghavi, Visa's head of digital currencies for Asia Pacific; and Moses Lee, Anchorage Digital's head of Asia Pacific.

The event organiser is Activ8, a creative marketing lab under the BlockOffice umbrella.

BlockOffice is a Singapore-based corporate services and growth partner that provides back-office and administrative outsourcing for technology start-ups, specifically in the Web3, artificial intelligence and fintech sectors, according to its LinkedIn profile.

The theme for this year's MYBW is "Bridging realities: Where everyone meets web3", which reflects the convergence happening across the blockchain industry.

"What we are seeing now is Web3 as a whole being actively shaped in emerging markets, like Southeast Asia, where enthusiasm and adoption is growing significantly.

“MYBW 2026 is where those voices are heard to build a conversation about what Web3 adoption means in Malaysia and its region among the global landscape," says Noelle Lee, managing partner and organising host of MYBW.
