KUALA LUMPUR (July 15): Enest Group Bhd (KL:ENEST) is exploring exports to Canada after the bird nest company received an enquiry from a potential customer.

The enquiries are mainly from the local Chinese community and Chinese immigrants in Canada, managing director Tan Teh Jie said at a Wednesday news conference after the company’s listing ceremony on Wednesday.

The potential order volumes are relatively modest, focusing on raw clean edible bird’s nest, he said.

China’s is Enest largest export market, accounting for nearly two-thirds of its revenue in 2025, while Malaysia contributed about 36% of its revenue. The rest came from sales to Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

Based in Kajang, the company processes and trades edible bird’s nest products and is transferring its listing from the LEAP Market, a board designed for early stage and emerging small firms.

A large number of registered birdhouses in Malaysia are providing a steady supply of raw bird’s nests as the company expands its capacity, chief operating officer Lok Chyi Yeu said at the same event.

The new Kajang plant is expected to more than double the group’s existing processing capacity once it begins operations, he said. “We still need to go through renovations and apply for the permits and licences," Lok said, adding that it will take at least a year to set up the plant.
