KUALA LUMPUR (July 11): Barisan Nasional (BN) has secured the first three seats in the Johor state election, according to the Election Commission’s unofficial data, as the coalition eyes a big win.
The Umno-led coalition has bagged Machap (N.26), Sedili (N.36), and Kukup (N.56) after crossing the “threshold”, the commission said in its livestream on Facebook as per unofficial data.
Caretaker Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi retained Machap, Muszaide Makmor secured Sedili, while Md Israk Abdullah secured Kukup.
BN expects to showcase a stronger showing than the 40 seats it secured in 2022.
Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan's (PH) DAP has won its first seat Bentayan (N.12) in its straight fight against MCA, according to the commission's unofficial results tally as at 8pm.
PH had 12 seats in 2022, followed by Perikatan Nasional (3) and the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (1).
