KUALA LUMPUR (July 8): Pekat Group Bhd (KL:PEKAT) has secured two contracts with a total value of RM46.94 million for the supply and installation of earthing and lightning protection systems at data centre developments in Negeri Sembilan and Johor. 

In a statement on Wednesday, the group said the first contract, valued at RM19.73 million, is for a hyperscale data centre in Port Dickson and is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2027.

The second contract, worth RM27.21 million, is for the supply and installation of earthing and lightning protection systems at a data centre in Johor, Pekat said, adding that the project is expected to be completed by Sept 19, 2027. 

“The latest contract wins strengthen Pekat's presence in Malaysia's expanding data centre sector, in which the demand for specialised electrical infrastructure continues to grow alongside investments in digital infrastructure and cloud computing facilities,” it said.

Pekat said these contracts are expected to contribute positively to its earnings for the current financial year, subject to the progress of works and normal project execution risks.

“Pekat has been actively expanding its presence in the data centre supply chain, leveraging its expertise in power protection and power generation to capture opportunities arising from the rapid growth of data centres in the region,” it said.

The group added that it remains focused on securing further contracts within this space as demand for robust, reliable data centre infrastructure continues to rise.
