KUALA LUMPUR (July 6): Sarawak-based plantation company Rimbunan Sawit Bhd (KL:RSAWIT) said it is assessing the operational and financial impact of a disruption at its Ulu Teru Estate in Miri, following a blockage of the estate's main access route.
Access to the estate, operated by subsidiary PJP Pelita Ulu Teru Plantation Sdn Bhd, has been disrupted since June 18, according to the company in a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday. As a result, harvesting activities, transportation of fresh fruit bunches, and certain estate operations have been affected.
"The company has been engaging with the relevant authorities and other stakeholders to resolve the matter as expeditiously as possible and is implementing operational measures to minimise the impact on its plantation activities," the filing read.
According to Rimbunan Sawit's 2025 annual report, PJP Pelita Ulu Teru Plantation is 60%-owned by Nescaya Palma Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rimbunan Sawit. Based on information available on Rimbunan Sawit's website, the Ulu Teru Estate spans about 7,900 hectares, representing roughly 13% of the company's total plantation land bank of 61,120 hectares across Sarawak.
The company said the duration of the disruption remains uncertain and that it is currently evaluating the extent of the operational and financial impact arising from the blockage.
Shares of Rimbunan Sawit closed unchanged at 15 sen on Monday, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM306.26 million.
