KUALA LUMPUR (July 3): Insights Analytics Bhd (KL:IAB) has agreed to pay RM4.24 million to settle a lawsuit over a software source code transaction.

The payment has been made in full to hotel chain operator Place2Stay Management Sdn Bhd, and the claims are now fully resolved without admission of wrongdoing, the Sarawak-based firm said in an exchange filing on Friday. A consent judgement was recorded at the Kuching High Court on July 1.

Each party will bear its own legal costs, Insights Analytics said.

The settlement ends a lawsuit filed by Place2Stay Management seeking RM8.48 million in outstanding payments for the sale of four software source codes with a total contract value of RM13.42 million signed in late 2024.

As part of the settlement, the ownership of three software source codes — construction site resource management, smart hotel operations and reservation, and smart transport management systems — will remain with Insights Analytics.

Insights Analytics, which mainly provides asset management systems to water utilities, will have the full right to use the source codes.

Shares of Insights Analytics were up by four sen or 2.7% to RM1.52 at Friday’s market close. The company’s market capitalisation stood at RM836 million.
