KUALA LUMPUR (July 1): Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) is stepping up efforts to enhance network capacity, performance and future readiness, building on its role as Malaysia’s primary 5G infrastructure provider.

In a statement, DNB said it is activating its newly allocated 3.3-3.4 gigahertz (GHz) spectrum (F-Zero).

Combined with its existing 3.4-3.5 GHz band, this gives DNB a total of 200 megahertz (MHz) of contiguous mid-band spectrum, the largest in Malaysia.

The expanded spectrum effectively doubles network capacity, improving efficiency and user experience, particularly in high-demand areas.

“Importantly, the enhanced capacity positions DNB and its access seekers to support the next wave of enterprise digitalisation,” it said.

“This includes advanced applications in artificial intelligence (AI), automation, industrial internet of things and mission-critical services, enabling businesses in Malaysia to scale innovation on a robust, high-performing 5G platform.”

More than 50 sites have been upgraded to date, with additional activations planned. The upgrades are expected to further strengthen performance in high-traffic locations and support more data-intensive use cases.

Separately, in line with the government’s transition to a 5G dual network model, DNB confirmed that U Mobile has been offboarded from its 5G network, effective June 30, 2026.

DNB said the development reflects the evolution of Malaysia’s 5G landscape and supports national policy aimed at fostering a resilient, competitive and future-ready digital ecosystem.

DNB chief executive officer Datuk Azman Ismail said the company will focus on strengthening network performance, scaling enterprise capabilities and enabling the next wave of digital innovation.

“We are entering a new phase for DNB, defined by stronger capacity, deeper collaboration and sharper execution.

“With rising demand and new digital opportunities ahead, particularly in AI and enterprise digitalisation, we are committed to delivering a network that not only meets today’s needs, but powers Malaysia’s digital future,” he added.

DNB currently carries the vast majority of Malaysia’s 5G mobile traffic, with CelcomDigi, Maxis and YTL Communications as shareholders serving a combined 30 million users, reflecting sustained industry confidence in the shared infrastructure model.

Collectively, DNB’s shareholders have committed more than RM2 billion in investments to date.
