KUALA LUMPUR (June 30): Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd (KL:PUNCAK) has appointed Azlan Shah Rozali, 40, the son of founder Tan Sri Rozali Ismail, as chairman and president following Rozali’s retirement as executive chairman on June 30, 2026.

In a statement on Tuesday, the company said Rozali, 68, has been named chairman emeritus and honorary adviser, where he will continue to provide strategic guidance to the group.

The company also appointed Azlan Shah’s cousin, Faridatulzakiah Mohd Bakhry, 50, as group CEO and executive director while his sister Nur Natasha Rozali was named chief human resources and administration officer, focusing on workforce development and organisational growth. The appointments take effect on July 1, 2026.

Puncak Niaga said that under the new leadership structure, Azlan Shah, as president and chairman, will oversee the group’s strategy and governance while Faridatulzakiah, as group CEO, will be responsible for executing the strategy and managing daily operations.

Faridatulzakiah holds a law degree from the University of Hertfordshire, UK. She began her legal career in 2003 before joining Great Eastern Life Assurance (Malaysia) in 2006, where she gained experience in human resources and industrial relations. She later joined SYABAS in 2008 and moved to Puncak Niaga in 2012, where she led the group’s human resources and administration functions. Her most recent role was executive director of human resources and administration at Puncak Niaga Holdings.

Lim Mun Lee has also been redesignated from executive director of finance to chief financial officer, overseeing the group’s financial strategy.

Rozali founded Puncak Niaga’s operating unit, Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd, in 1989, which was later appointed to manage water treatment operations in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. The company was listed in 1997 before selling its water assets to the Selangor government for RM1.55 billion in 2014 as part of the state’s water restructuring exercise.

Since the disposal of its water assets, Puncak Niaga, which has been loss-making, has expanded into areas including water and sewerage infrastructure, oil palm plantations in Bintulu, and facilities management, including the UiTM Puncak Alam concession following the acquisition of TRIplc Bhd for RM210 million cash from Pimpinan Ehsan Bhd.

Puncak Niaga shares were unchanged at 17 sen on Tuesday, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM76 million.
