KUALA LUMPUR (June 30): Sunway Healthcare Holdings Bhd (KL:SUNMED) has promoted Dr Seow Vei Ken to chief medical director of Sunway Healthcare Group while appointing healthcare industry veteran Erica Lam as CEO of Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, effective July 1.

Seow, who has been serving as CEO of Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, will assume his new group-wide role overseeing clinical leadership and medical excellence across Sunway Healthcare's network.

Succeeding him is Erica Lam, who brings more than 15 years of experience as a hospital CEO in Malaysia's private healthcare sector.

Before joining Sunway Medical Centre, Lam was regional CEO (Central) at IHH Healthcare Malaysia, where she oversaw hospital operations within the group's central region.

Sunway Healthcare said Lam's extensive experience in hospital operations, clinical governance and leadership development would support Sunway Medical Centre's continued growth while reinforcing its position as one of the country's leading private healthcare institutions.

Shares in Sunway Healthcare closed unchanged at RM1.81 on Tuesday, giving the healthcare group a market capitalisation of RM20.82 billion.

The stock, which surged as much as 60% above its initial public offering (IPO) price of RM1.45 within days of its listing, has since pared some of those gains but remains up 24.8% from its IPO price.
