
KUALA LUMPUR (June 26): The Malaysian Palm Oil Association (MPOA) has appointed Mohd Haris Mohd Arshad as chairman of the MPOA, at its annual general meeting on Friday.
Haris will serve MPOA for the term 2026-2028, succeeding Dato’ Lee Yeow Chor, who was chairman for six years previously.
In a press release, MPOA says Haris will be “working closely with the executive leadership team to represent and advance the interests of the oil palm industry for a sustainable, competitive and prosperous future.”
He will also be overseeing the council’s strategic direction as chairman.
“With over 30 years of global experience in the downstream sector, particularly commodity trading, procurement, and strategic transformation, En Haris is known for driving operational excellence with visionary leadership,” the MPOA said.
Currently, the president and group chief executive officer of SD Guthrie Berhad, Haris is also chairman of the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil and the Palm Oil Refiners Association of Malaysia.
He is additionally on the board of trustees of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council.
