KUALA LUMPUR (June 23): UWC Bhd's (KL:UWC) third quarter net profit more than tripled to RM26.32 million from RM7.96 million a year earlier, as a recovery in the semiconductor industry lifted revenue to a record high.

Revenue for the quarter ended April 30, 2026 climbed 58.5% year-on-year to RM151.46 million from RM95.56 million, according to a Bursa Malaysia filing on Tuesday.

Operating profit more than tripled to RM30.29 million from RM9.9 million, while operating profit margin expanded to 20% from 10.4%.

No dividend was declared for the quarter.

For the first nine months of the financial year, cumulative net profit more than doubled to RM56.24 million from RM24.14 million a year ago, while revenue rose 47.3% to RM408.72 million from RM277.38 million.

On its outlook, UWC said it continues to receive enquiries related to front-end semiconductor, life sciences and 5G test equipment, while demand from both front-end and back-end semiconductor customers has improved, particularly for system-level testers.

The group said it is expanding production capacity, including cleanroom facilities, to support growing front-end semiconductor projects. It has also secured multiple orders from front-end customers, with project execution progressing and expected to contribute positively as volumes ramp up.

UWC said accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure and high-performance computing is driving demand for advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment, positioning the group to benefit through its precision manufacturing, engineering and system integration capabilities.

Beyond semiconductors, the group said it continues to build its presence in the life sciences and medical technology segment, having secured customers for equipment module assembly and precision components. It is also pursuing opportunities in 5G network equipment, autonomous vehicle chip testers and electric vehicle battery testers.

Shares of UWC closed 3.5 sen or 0.57% lower at RM6.10 on Tuesday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM6.73 billion. The stock has gained about 239% over the past year and is trading at a forward price-earnings ratio of 67.8 times, according to Bloomberg data.
