KUALA LUMPUR (June 22): Alliance Bank Malaysia has launched the BizSmart Challenge Accelerator Edition 2026, its eighth startup accelerator programme, with returning partners Cradle Fund and 1337 Ventures, along with new partners Seni Jaya Corporation Bhd (KL:SJC) and Sunway iLabs.

Sunway iLabs is the innovation lab and corporate venture capital arm of Sunway Bhd (KL:SUNWAY).

The partnership aims to build a stronger ecosystem for SMEs by connecting them with the right support. Through Seni Jaya, SMEs can access marketing services, while Sunway iLabs provides links to Sunway’s network of partners.

“We are building an ecosystem that gives entrepreneurs access to capital, knowledge, networks and opportunities they need to realise their vision,” said group CEO Kellee Kam.

Alliance Bank will also hold its sixth BizSmart Business Conference on October 6, bringing together SMEs, past winners and partners to network and grow.

Kam said a strong support ecosystem is important as SMEs face economic uncertainty.

“Companies shine when times are tough and help them grow. In times like these, a platform [like the BizSmart Challenge] allows startups to grow and hone their skills. With no guidance, it can be overwhelming, but with a programme like this, they will have mentors and partnerships to help,” said Kam.

The 2026 programme is open to Malaysian SMEs operating for one to 10 years with annual sales of RM500,000 to RM40 million. Winners can receive up to RM2 million in cash prizes, training, brand exposure, and up to RM20 million in financing support.

Applications close on Aug 2. Past participants include Signature Market, BloomThis, Christy Ng, Salad Atelier, BioLoop, Gula Cakery and Sin Boon Kee.
