KUALA LUMPUR (June 22): Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines will introduce new joint fare products for travel between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore as part of a new partnership.

The new products build on their existing codeshare arrangement and are aimed at offering fliers more fare options between the two capital cities, while improving connectivity across their networks, according to a joint statement from the carriers.

Both are also working towards rolling out additional customer benefits in stages, including reciprocal lounge access, coordinated flight schedules and joint corporate travel arrangements.

There were no further details on the products.

“This joint business partnership with Singapore Airlines marks a significant milestone in the expansion of our commercial collaboration,” said Bryan Foong Chee Yeong, head of airline business at Malaysian Aviation Group Bhd, owner of Malaysia Airlines.

The new fare products would widen the range of options available to travellers flying between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, said Singapore Airlines chief commercial officer Lee Lik Hsin.

Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines have been expanding cooperation since signing a commercial cooperation framework agreement in October 2019.

The national flag carriers currently have codeshare — an agreement among airlines to sell seats on each other's flights — on services across Malaysia, Singapore, Europe and South Africa.

In February 2024, the two carriers said they also introduced reciprocal accrual and redemption between Malaysia Airlines’ Enrich and SIA’s KrisFlyer frequent flyer programmes, allowing members to earn and redeem points or miles on select flights operated by either airline.
