KUALA LUMPUR (June 18): EI Power Bhd (KL:EIPOWER), which was listed just four weeks ago, has secured a RM90.1 million subcontract for a data centre project in Johor.

In a statement, the power engineering solutions provider said its wholly owned subsidiary, EI Power Technologies Sdn Bhd, accepted the job on Thursday from a main contractor involved in engineering, construction and investment holding. The contractor’s identity was not disclosed due to confidentiality.

The scope covers the full fuel system package for the data centre, including supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning. Work has commenced immediately and is scheduled for completion by September 2027.

The contract has lifted EI Power’s unbilled order book to RM222.5 million, from RM99.9 million as at March 24, and is expected to contribute positively to earnings over the project period.

EI Power executive director cum chief executive officer Albert Chang Wan Siong said the award reflects strong opportunities in Malaysia’s data centre segment, which remains a structurally supported growth area.

“Coming just weeks after our listing, it reflects the growth trajectory we aim to deliver for our shareholders,” he said in the statement, adding that the group plans to build on this momentum to secure more contracts in data centres, renewable energy and other infrastructure segments.

EI Power was listed on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia on May 21, raising RM62.2 million to fund expansion, including a new headquarters, a Johor branch and its entry into Thailand. 

The group serves a wide range of industries, including data centres, commercial, industrial and residential developments, as well as solar farms.

Shares of EI Power closed down three sen or 4.29% at 67 sen on Thursday, valuing the group at RM469 million.
